Green Babaulti shrimp, scientifically named Caridina cf. babaulti, are a diverse and generally hardy group of dwarf shrimp originating from India and other parts of Asia. They are known for their green or zebra-striped variants, are peaceful, and require a 5-gallon or larger tank with parameters generally similar to Neocaridina shrimp. Their care is considered easier than many other Caridina species.
Care and tank requirements
  • Tank size: A 5-gallon tank is the minimum, but a 10-gallon tank is recommended for a colony. 
  • Temperature: Keep the water between 68−72F
    pH: Maintain a pH level between 6.5 and 7.5. 
  • Water hardness: TDS 160-200

  • Diet: They are omnivores and scavengers that thrive on algae and biofilm in a well-established aquarium. Supplement with high-quality shrimp food if necessary. 
  • Tank setup: Include decorations like Java moss and Malaysian driftwood. An inert substrate is recommended.

  • Size: They grow to be about 1 to 1.4 inches long. 
  • Color: While the most common varieties are green or zebra-striped, they can also be other colors. They may also be able to change their color to blend in with their surroundings. 
  • Compatibility: They are completely peaceful and can coexist with other shrimp and small, non-aggressive fish
