TheΒ pinocchio shrimp (Caridina Gracilirostris)
Appearance and behaviorΒ
- Distinctive features: The shrimp is named for its unusually long, pointed rostrum, which can regenerate if broken. Its body is mostly clear, but it has a reddish-pink hue and a prominent red-and-yellow stripe running down its back.
- Size: Adult pinocchio shrimp typically reach a length of 1 to 1.5 inches (about 3β4 cm).
- Activity: These are very active shrimp that spend their time darting around the aquarium, exploring all levels of the tank. They are also excellent climbers and jumpers, so a secure lid or lower water level is necessary.
- Temperament: Pinocchio shrimp are peaceful and can coexist well with other non-aggressive, similarly sized shrimp and nano fish.Β
